Molding the foundation of a lump of clay is the most important part of The Potter’s work. It is during this time that The Potter thoughtfully decides the intent and purpose for this specific lump of clay.
Whenever The Potter notices a flaw within His creation, He reforms the defected area so that the final product will be complete and whole, enabling it to be used for its intended purpose. The process of removing the flawed area is essential in the transformation process. While destroying the old blemishes to restore the new creation is uncomfortable and, at times, painful, find encouragement in knowing that the clay has The Potter’s undivided attention and concern throughout the entirety of this transformation period.
There will be times in our lives where we may feel as though we are finallydone being “shaped” and can accomplish the purpose for which God has specifically designated for each of us. Then, out of nowhere, it may feel as though the rug has been ripped from underneath our feet, as we find ourselves crumbling and breaking down without any forewarning whatsoever. However, we must remember that whenever we go through deep waters, God is always in the depths with us.
Once our fleshly desires have been removed, He begins to mold each of us back into the creation that He has envisioned all along, since the very beginning of time. Whenever we face hardships in our lives, we must remember that it is during this time in which The Potter’s hands are always upon us. He is shaping and molding us. He is smoothing out the rough edges in our lives, transforming each of us into a new creation, so that His purpose may be fulfilled as He uses each of us as His earthen vessels.
